Introduction

HACHIROKU Archive (hereinafter referred to as the "App") is a record-keeping application designed to preserve plant specimen records, provenance, and lineage over the long term. By installing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Description of the App

The App is designed to save specimen records locally on your device. No account registration is required, and no user data is transmitted to any external servers.

2. Terms of Use

The App is intended for personal specimen record-keeping. You agree not to engage in any of the following activities:

  • Using the App for any illegal or public-order-violating purposes
  • Unauthorized access or interference with the App's system
  • Reverse engineering, modification, or disassembly of the App for unauthorized purposes
  • Infringing upon the rights of any third party

3. Purchases and Refunds

HACHIROKU Archive is provided through the Apple App Store.

All transactions, billing, and refunds are processed by Apple in accordance with the Apple App Store Terms and Conditions and policies.

The developer does not have access to your payment information and cannot process or issue refunds.

For any inquiries regarding purchases or refunds, please contact Apple Support.

4. Data Storage

All data you enter into the App is stored solely on your device.

Data may be lost in the following circumstances:

  • Device failure, damage, or loss
  • Deletion or uninstallation of the App
  • OS updates or device initialization
  • Failure during data migration when changing devices

The developer shall not be liable for any data loss resulting from these events. Please manage and secure your records using the backup functionality.

5. Backup and Restoration

The App features CSV export capability, as well as backup and restoration functions for record and photo data. It supports both individual specimen backup and entire collection backup/restoration.

You can restore your record and photo data using exported backup files, though complete restoration is not guaranteed.

  • Please store your exported data on your device or your own cloud storage.
  • Regular backups are highly recommended.
  • Restoration operations may overwrite existing records in the App.
  • We recommend taking a backup of your current data before performing a restoration.
  • The export format may change with App updates. Restoring data to a different version of the App may result in incomplete data transfer.
  • Importing backup files into applications other than HACHIROKU Archive is not supported.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for:

  • Any damages arising out of the use or inability to use the App
  • Issues caused by data loss, device trouble, or OS changes
  • Data loss resulting from backup file corruption, restoration operations, or version mismatches
  • Interference with operations due to specification changes by the App Store
  • Issues resulting from the network environment or other user-specific conditions

This limitation shall not apply where liability cannot be excluded under applicable laws.

7. Service Changes and Termination

The specifications and features of the App are subject to change without notice. Please be aware of the following possibilities:

  • Addition, modification, or removal of features
  • Monetization of certain features (making features paid)
  • Termination of App availability

If termination is decided, we will announce it in advance as far as reasonably practicable.

8. Intellectual Property

All copyrights and intellectual property rights related to the App (including design, code, logos, and text) belong to the developer.

All rights to specimen records, photos, and text entered into the App belong to you. The developer does not collect, transmit, or utilize this data.

9. Changes to Terms

These Terms may be revised due to App updates or service changes. If significant changes are made, we will notify you within the App or on our website.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising in connection with the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court or the Tokyo Summary Court as the court of first instance.
